WHO approves the proposal of Oman and Switzerland

Muscat: The Executive Board of the World Health Organization approved the proposal of the Sultanate of Oman and the Federal Republic of Switzerland on the “Global Health for Peace Initiative” (GHPI) within the meetings of the current 150th session of the Council currently being held in the Swiss city of Geneva, and the initiative received great support from the member states of the Council.

The initiative seeks to strengthen and activate the link between health, social cohesion and peace by focusing on the unique role that public health programs can play in bringing together different groups and building trust in all components of peace.

The initiative also supports principles related to the success of health programs and the pursuit of peace dividends through equity, inclusion, participation and leadership.
