Work begins on Al Batinah Expressway link project to ‘Shinas’

The company executing the Shinas Road Link Project in North Al Batinah Governorate has started its construction work for the link project between Al Batinah Expressway and the state center, and it is expected that the construction work will be completed within a year and a half.

The company started its initial work by planning and defining the route of the road, which will include the construction of crossings for valleys and a roundabout at the entrance to the road for those coming from the center of the wilayat. The cost of constructing the road is 2.5 million Omani riyals.

Eng. Youssef bin Abdullah Al-Mujaini, Director of the Roads Construction Department at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, said that the implementation of the Shinas link came as part of the ministry’s plan to construct a number of roads and connections to facilitate traffic and the movement of citizens. Al Batinah Highway and Al Batinah Expressway, with a length of 5.5 km, starting 1.8 km from Shinas Roundabout towards Al Batinah Expressway; In an effort by the Ministry to complete the linking system between the two roads, which is intended to activate traffic more on the Al Batinah Expressway and reduce traffic congestion on the Al Batinah Highway.

Haitham bin Ali al-Mayasi, a member of the municipal council in the state, said: Linking the center of the state of Shinas with the Al Batinah highway will serve the people and residents of the state and will contribute to revitalizing the commercial movement. Because the industrial zone will be a link to the highway, explaining that this road will be a great addition to the logistical services at the commercial port of Shinas, which is witnessing an active commercial movement for handling goods and export.
