Work continues on Liwa dual carriageway

Liwa: The company executing the Liwa road duplication project in North Al Batinah Governorate continues its construction work on the road, which starts from the Liwa roundabout on the Al Batinah Road and ends at the intersection of the Al Batinah Expressway, with a length of 5.5 km.

The project works include upgrading the efficiency of the existing road from a single road to a double road with two lanes of traffic in each direction and a cross section of 8.9 meters in each direction, and the construction of new roundabouts with the preparation of the existing roundabouts linking the two roads and the entry and exit lanes.

The road will contribute to the recovery of commercial traffic in the state, as well as serving the people in movement between the center of the wilayat and the western villages, in addition to serving Sohar port and the free zone.

Hamed bin Ahmed Al-Saadi, assistant director of the Liwa Municipality Department in Al-Nadb, said: The project to link the dual carriageway of the expressway to the roundabout of Liwa Wilayat, two lanes from both directions, makes it one of the vital and important roads, as the road was constructed according to international and distinctive specifications.

He added: The road facilitates movement and mobility for all road users in general and for road users from mountainous areas in particular, such as Al-Fulaih and Fazah and the rest of the mountainous areas, the Liwa police station, the industrial area, the municipality’s slaughterhouse and the new Liwa, and contributes to the recovery of commercial traffic in the state.
