Muscat: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) has begun construction work to rebuild Seeb Castle, which is closely linked to the history of the Sultanate of Oman and its events since ancient times, as it is a historical and heritage symbol that bears witness to eras of Omani history. Years after the Castle’s disappearance, the people of Seeb Wilayat are awaiting the completion of construction work and the opening of Seeb Castle’s doors. Engineer Amjad bin Ahmed bin Muhammad Al-Mukhalladi, Director of Restoration and Maintenance at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, said: At the end of 2023, the Ministry issued a tender to rebuild Seeb Castle, and the project was assigned to one of the companies specialized in restoration work for historical sites, and the company has begun work on the project site, which is expected Construction work will be completed by the end of 2024.

He pointed out that the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism anticipated the start of construction work for Al-Seeb Castle by carrying out excavation work on the foundations of the fort, and all the facilities were redesigned and upgraded engineering to rebuild Al-Seeb Castle as it was before. He said that forts and castles represent historical symbols in which justice and order were achieved, and Al-Seeb Castle is considered It is one of the historical forts with which many events are linked, and the reconstruction of this landmark will constitute a historical significance for the state in terms of introducing future generations to its symbolism and the history of the state of Seeb.

He explained that the details of the project to rebuild Seeb Castle lie in the construction of 4 rooms in the fort in addition to the external annexes, which consist of a sabbala, ancillary facilities, as well as the courtyard accompanying the fort, and parking lots for vehicles.
