Mahdah: The Department of Agricultural Wealth and Water Resources in the Wilayat of Mahdah carried out a workshop to transfer modern technologies in date palm cultivation to the farmers of the state, in cooperation with the Oman Palm Development Company.

During the workshop, farmers were trained to use modern technologies in the date palm germination process using a number of approved modern methods that have proven successful after being used in a number of places, including the fogging method that depends on mixing pollen with flour and air pumping it in different proportions, and there is also the approved water suspension method On mixing pollen grains with water, then spraying and other methods are carried out.

Engineer Mohammed bin Salem Al Kaabi, Director of the Department of Agricultural Wealth and Water Resources in the Wilayat of Mahdah, said: The aim of the workshop is to train farmers in the state to use modern techniques in palm cultivation, given the great importance represented by this method, which is represented in its great contribution to increasing the production of palm trees. In addition to the high level of fruit quality.

He added that this method contributes to overcoming the disadvantages of germination in the traditional way in some varieties, which require more effort and cost compared to the modern method, which greatly reduces this, in addition to the possibility of applying it to all varieties and sizes.

It is noteworthy that the Wilayat of Mahdah has many high-quality date palm varieties, but is unique to some varieties that have proven successful in the state’s soil and climatic conditions, such as Al-Saqai, Abu Khumous and Sultana, while preserving their well-known quality.
