New York: The World Food Programme (WFP) warned of the danger of a complete collapse of the most basic services and the occurrence of a famine in the Gaza Strip, in light of the ongoing Israeli occupation aggression on the Strip since 7 October 2023.
“As we count down to a new year, there is a different kind of countdown in Gaza,” WFP wrote in X platform.
“We are racing against time to avert a complete collapse of even the most basic services and starvation for millions. Only a long-term ceasefire and unhindered humanitarian access can end this,” it added.
Since 7 October, the Israeli occupation has launched an unprecedented aggression against the Gaza Strip, which has so far resulted in tens of thousands of martyrs, missing persons and wounded, 70% of whom are children and women, in addition to the destruction of hundreds of thousands of housing units and the forced displacement of about 2 million people inside the Strip.
