Salalah: Youth initiatives in the Sultanate of Oman in general and Dhofar Governorate in particular contribute to creating economic activity and investment opportunities that enhance the national economy, increase individual income and create job opportunities for young people.
Because Dhofar Autumn is an exceptional season, it has created many opportunities for innovative youth projects with the support of relevant official bodies and in partnership with private sector institutions.
Among the examples of these projects in the field of entrepreneurship is the “Osara” entertainment project, which Majid bin Ali Al-Masahli, one of the founders of the project, spoke about: The idea of the project is to establish an integrated tourist and entertainment site on the beach of the Raysut area in the Wilayat of Salalah in the Governorate of Dhofar, managed by a group of Omani youth. It represents an integrated tourist destination that includes various entertainment and cultural activities and events, as well as relaxation sessions, suitable for all age groups.
He added that the project was included in the Dhofar Autumn 2024 events, and includes various programs and activities to serve visitors, including cultural and entertainment events, restaurants, and cafes overlooking the sea, in addition to beach sessions.
He explained that the tourism project is environmentally friendly because it was built using 70 percent recycled wood, pointing out the project management’s plans to add and improve some recreational activities to enhance tourism services for visitors to the site, including: the arrow-throwing challenge, axe shooting, in addition to jet skiing, water boats and horseback riding.
He explained that the “Osara” project was established in 2022 with the efforts of Omani youth and with the support of Dhofar Municipality, the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Salalah Port, and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as part of the efforts made to encourage and develop youth initiatives and enhance the entrepreneurship sector in the governorate.
The founder of the “Lamir Al Mughsail” website, Nader bin Bakhit Fadel, has a story with his project, which includes establishing a tourist and entertainment site. It is being held for the third consecutive year since its establishment in 2022 under youth management. It contains various restaurants and cafes and a space designated for children’s games, in addition to providing pleasure boats to enjoy sea trips, with an artificial waterfall and beach seating designated for families.
He explained that the project contributes to enhancing the tourism aspects in the Al Mughsail area in the Wilayat of Salalah, by providing various entertainment and tourism services for families and visitors during the exceptional autumn season, in addition to providing job opportunities for Omani youth and owners of small and medium enterprises.
He pointed out that the project came with the support of Dhofar Municipality, Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) and the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development, explaining that the future plan for the project includes its development and operation during the various tourist seasons in the governorate in coordination with the relevant authorities.
Regarding the youth projects established in the Itin Plain in the Wilayat of Salalah, Hamza bin Mohammed Al Ghassani, owner of the “Seda Park” website, says that the project includes a group of mobile carts that provide meals, drinks and related services, with the participation of a number of cafes and restaurants known locally and abroad.
He added that the “Seda Park” site seeks to highlight the cultural, artistic and entertainment aspects with a local and international character, noting the participation of more than 45 fixed and mobile food carts offering various types of local, Arab and international meals, in addition to the “Seda Boutique” corner dedicated to shopping and displaying the products of productive families.
He pointed out that “Seda Park” includes a theater to provide entertainment and artistic activities for visitors and an outdoor cinema. In the same context, Muslim bin Abdul Salam Al Rawas, owner of the “Revel Park” site in Itin Plain in Salalah, said that the youth project implemented by “Sar” Events Company in its second edition includes a square designated for mobile sales outlets in local and international restaurant and cafe activities, with 50 outlets, in order to create an attractive entertainment and commercial destination that meets the needs of citizens, residents and visitors.
He added that the site is witnessing a turnout from visitors during the Dhofar tourism season due to the variety of local and international foods and drinks it offers, as well as entertainment and artistic events that suit different age groups.
He pointed out that the support of Dhofar Municipality and the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development contributed to the establishment of the project, which is an opportunity for business owners to display and sell their products in one place.
