Asyad Drydock Attracts 56 New International Clients, Expands Global Reach

Duqm: Asyad Drydock, a subsidiary of Asyad Group, completed 130 projects during the first eight months of 2026 and attracted 56 new international clients, bringing its total client base to around 900 commercial clients from global markets.

The results highlight the growing role of Duqm as a regional and international centre for maritime services and industries, supported by its specialised infrastructure and facilities for serving international vessels and fleets and its integration with the port, services and industrial ecosystem within the Special Economic Zone at Duqm.

Ahmed bin Ali Al Balushi, CEO of Asyad Drydock, said the completed projects comprised 119 ship repair and maintenance projects and 11 industrial projects.

He noted that around 40 percent of the new clients attracted since the beginning of the year came from Middle Eastern and Far Eastern markets.

Al Balushi said the company recorded a new operational milestone this year by carrying out 10 simultaneous vessel-berthing operations during maintenance work for the first time. This included berthing two vessels side by side and carrying out maintenance on both simultaneously, improving dock utilisation and increasing the number of projects that could be handled at the same time.

The company also set a new operational record by simultaneously carrying out maintenance and repair work on 27 vessels, reflecting the technical capabilities of its workforce, the capacity of its facilities and its ability to manage multiple operations concurrently.

He added that the floating dock has further strengthened Asyad Drydock’s capabilities, with 13 vessels serviced through the facility up to the end of August 2026, compared with two vessels during the same period in 2025.

The company is currently working on two new shipbuilding projects for different uses, building on its previous achievements in the sector. It has completed and delivered three shipbuilding projects to clients in Oman and the Gulf markets in recent years.

Al Balushi said the company’s growth is also contributing to local content and strengthening the national business ecosystem.

During the first eight months of 2026, Asyad Drydock awarded contracts and purchase orders worth RO6.5 million to small and medium enterprises and RO12.5 million to local companies, with local companies accounting for 81 percent of the total value of contracts awarded.

He explained that the growth of drydock operations is contributing to the development of local supply chains, creating opportunities for Omani companies and strengthening the participation of the private sector in the maritime services and industries sector.

The results also underscore the development of Duqm’s integrated maritime ecosystem, which brings together port services, ship repair and maintenance, shipbuilding and related industries and services, supporting Oman’s efforts to attract international maritime businesses and enhance the sector’s contribution to the national economy.
