The Inspector General of Police and Customs, Lt. Gen. Hassan bin Mohsin Al Shraiqi, has issued Decision No. 137/2026 establishing a committee to review the requirements and procedures governing the issuance of driving licences, including licences for heavy vehicles.
The committee, chaired by the Director General of Traffic, Brig. Eng., and comprising several specialists from the Royal Oman Police, will review the requirements and procedures stipulated under the Traffic Law and its Executive Regulations.
The review will also cover safety and roadworthiness requirements for heavy vehicles, with the aim of ensuring that they are aligned with practical needs and relevant international practices.
The Royal Oman Police said the decision reflects its continued efforts to strengthen Oman’s traffic system and enhance the safety of road users.
