Third Dhofar International Arabian Horse Beauty Championship Kicks Off in Mirbat
Mirbat: The third edition of the Dhofar International Arabian Horse Beauty Championship kicked off today in the Wilayat of Mirbat, Dhofar Governorate, under a strategic partnership between the Office of the Governor of Dhofar, Dhofar Tourism Company and the Oman Equestrian Federation.
The championship was inaugurated by His Highness Sayyid Harib bin Thuwaini Al Said, Advisor at the Royal Court.
The event is being held in accordance with international standards adopted by the European Conference of Arab Horse Organizations (ECAHO).
His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, said that hosting the championship reflects the continued interest in equestrian sports and Arabian horses as an integral part of Oman’s cultural and historical heritage. He noted that the championship’s international classification highlights Dhofar Governorate’s capacity to host specialised international events.
He added that the championship extends beyond sport to encompass cultural, tourism and economic dimensions by showcasing Arabian horse heritage, attracting participants and visitors, stimulating tourism and economic activity, and strengthening Dhofar’s position as a destination for international events.
He also stressed the importance of further developing the championship, building on the achievements of previous editions and strengthening cooperation among the organisers and partners to ensure its continued growth and sustainability.
Najla bint Yousef Al Ibrahim, CEO of Dhofar Tourism Company and Chairperson of the Organising Committee, said the championship has developed since its first edition at the national level in 2024, before attaining international status in 2025 and reaching its third edition this year in Mirbat.
She added that the championship seeks to celebrate Arabian horse heritage, highlight the identity of the host location, and create further opportunities for equestrian activities, tourism and events in Dhofar Governorate.
The two-day championship is being held at Al-Najaib Field and features 10 categories: five for fillies and mares and five for colts and stallions.
The categories cover one-, two- and three-year-old fillies and colts, mares and stallions aged four to six years, and mares and stallions aged seven years and above.
The programme also includes six title championships for yearling fillies, yearling colts, fillies, colts, mares and stallions.
