Milan: Omani racing driver Al Faisal Al Zubair and his Italian teammate Davide Fumanelli secured sixth and seventh places in the Pro category during the two races of the Misano round of the GT World Open Championship held in Italy.
Representing Al Manar Racing Team, the duo qualified fifth and tenth for the first and second races respectively. They finished the opening race in fifth place before improving their position in the second race to claim seventh place overall and in the Pro category aboard the Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO.
The Misano round featured 29 teams competing across professional and amateur categories. Al Manar Racing faced nine competitors in the Pro category, including entries from teams such as GetSpeed and Motopark with Mercedes cars, AF Corse with Ferrari, and ZRS Motorsport with Porsche.
Al Manar Racing Team is scheduled to return to action at the next round of the championship, which will be held at the Paul Ricard Circuit in France from 17 to 19 July.
Commenting on his return to competition, Al Faisal Al Zubair said that it was positive to be back behind the wheel after a five-month absence from racing, describing it as the longest break of his professional career.
He noted that the challenge was made more difficult by the limited practice opportunities but expressed satisfaction with the results achieved during the weekend, highlighting the team’s seventh-place finish overall as an encouraging outcome.
