Madrid: Real Madrid will take on Bayern Munich tomorrow (Tuesday) at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
The match will mark the 29th meeting between the two sides, making it the most played fixture in the history of the competition.
Real Madrid head into the encounter following a 2-1 defeat to Mallorca in La Liga, leaving them seven points behind leaders Barcelona. The club recently appointed Álvaro Arbeloa as head coach after parting ways with Xabi Alonso.
The Spanish side advanced to the quarter-finals after defeating Benfica 3-1 in the play-offs and overcoming Manchester City 5-1 on aggregate in the round of 16.
Bayern Munich arrive with strong results this season, having lost only two matches in 43 outings across all competitions. Their last defeat came against Augsburg in January 2026.
The German side progressed directly to the round of 16 after finishing second in the league phase, before defeating Atalanta 10-2 on aggregate. Bayern currently lead the Bundesliga standings by nine points.
In another quarter-final first-leg match, Sporting Lisbon will host Arsenal in the Portuguese capital.
Arsenal secured qualification after drawing 1-1 with Bayer Leverkusen in the first leg and winning 2-0 in the return leg.
Sporting Lisbon advanced after overturning a 3-0 first-leg loss to Bodø/Glimt with a 5-0 victory in the second leg.
