NASA and SpaceX Adjust Crew-13 Launch Date After Dragon Propulsion Leak
Washington: NASA and SpaceX have adjusted the launch date for the agency’s Crew-13 mission to the International Space Station (ISS) after an oxidizer leak was detected in the propulsion system of the Dragon spacecraft during routine prelaunch processing.
Joint teams from NASA and SpaceX are conducting additional testing and reviewing data to assess the spacecraft’s propulsion system. Any necessary corrective work will be completed before the mission launches.
NASA said a new target launch date will be announced once it is determined.
NASA astronauts Jessica Watkins and Luke Delaney will serve as spacecraft commander and pilot, respectively. They will be joined by Canadian Space Agency astronaut Joshua Kutryk and Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergey Teteryatnikov as mission specialists.
Following their arrival at the International Space Station, the Crew-13 astronauts and cosmonaut will become members of Expedition 75.
The crew is scheduled to enter quarantine approximately two weeks before launch at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.
Crew-13 will launch aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft carried by a Falcon 9 rocket from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
The mission is part of NASA and SpaceX’s ongoing crew transportation programme to the International Space Station.
