Gold Rises to Two-Week High Ahead of Federal Reserve Meeting

Singapore: Gold prices climbed to their highest level in nearly two weeks today, supported by technical buying and increased safe-haven demand as investors awaited next week’s US Federal Reserve meeting for indications on the future path of interest rates while monitoring developments in the Middle East.

Spot gold rose 0.9 percent to $4,113.73 per ounce, after touching its highest level since 10 July, while US gold futures for August delivery gained 1.1 percent to $4,119.10 per ounce.

Oil prices also advanced by more than one percent, remaining close to six-week highs amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.

According to the median forecast of economists surveyed by Reuters, the US Federal Reserve is expected to keep its benchmark interest rate unchanged for the remainder of 2026 as it continues efforts to contain inflation.

Among other precious metals, spot silver rose 1.8 percent to $59.82 per ounce, platinum gained 1.6 percent to $1,655.61 per ounce, while palladium increased 1.6 percent to $1,302.25 per ounce.
