Salalah: The Dhofar International Rapid Chess Championship concluded at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah, following three days of competition.
Organized by the Oman Chess Committee in cooperation with Dhofar Municipality as part of the Dhofar Autumn Season 2026, the championship brought together 80 players from 10 countries.
The tournament aimed to provide Omani players with opportunities to gain international competitive experience while contributing to the promotion of tourism in Dhofar Governorate.
The competition was conducted under the Swiss system over nine rounds.
India’s Nachiketha Krishnendra claimed first place, followed by Yemen’s Bashir Abdullah Al-Qudaimi in second, while India’s Vardan Satheeskumar secured third place.
