Oman chairs Gulf-British ministerial meeting

New York: The Sultanate of Oman today chaired the joint ministerial meeting between the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and His Excellency James Cleverly, British Foreign Secretary, within the framework of the work of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The Sultanate of Oman was represented by His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the current session of the Gulf Ministerial Council, with the participation of His Excellency the Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. During the meeting, the strong relations between the GCC countries and the United Kingdom were reviewed, and the areas of bilateral cooperation were strengthened in the fields of trade and investment, renewable energy, education, and the transfer of science and knowledge and its sustainable development.

Their Excellencies the Ministers praised the continuous progress witnessed by relations between the two sides in various fields, and the importance of working continuously to expand and diversify common interests in various fields and working to strengthen them and push them towards broader horizons.

The two sides also exchanged opinions and viewpoints on a number of current international and regional issues and emphasized the importance of encouraging dialogue and respecting the rule of international law and the United Nations Charter in a way that strengthens the foundations of peace and stability in the world.
