    Oman Youth Handball Team Finishes 10th at Asian Championship in China

    Beijing:  Oman’s national youth handball team concluded its participation in the 19th Asian Youth Handball Championship in Chuzhou, China, with a 10th-place finish after losing 45-24 to Qatar in the ninth-place playoff.

    Qatar dominated the match from the opening minutes, capitalizing on its experience and attacking efficiency to take a commanding 26-9 lead at halftime. Oman delivered an improved performance after the break and showed greater attacking intent, but Qatar maintained its advantage until the final whistle.

    The tournament marked an important milestone for Oman’s youth team in its first appearance at the continental championship, which also serves as a qualifier for the IHF Men’s Youth World Championship.

    During the competition, Oman faced Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong China, Bahrain, Chinese Taipei and Qatar, providing the players with valuable international exposure against some of Asia’s leading youth teams.

    The championship also enabled the coaching staff to evaluate the squad’s performance, identify areas for further development, and strengthen preparations for future regional and international competitions as part of efforts to develop Omani handball at the age-group level.
