Oman Highlights Tax Transparency Efforts at International Forum in India

New Delhi: The Sultanate of Oman took part in the 18th meeting of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes, held in New Delhi, Republic of India.

Oman’s delegation was headed by Nasser bin Khamis Al Jashmi, Chairman of the Tax Authority.

The meeting saw broad international participation, with 400 representatives from 124 member states, in addition to 12 observers and 7 invited non-member entities. Representatives from civil society organizations and academic institutions also attended.

Discussions focused on key strategic pillars of the Forum, including the ongoing monitoring and review of international transparency standards, implementation of peer reviews, and the evaluation of member states’ compliance with these standards. The meeting also reviewed capacity-building activities and technical assistance programs designed to support member countries in strengthening their tax systems.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Nasser bin Khamis Al Jashmi signed the annex related to the amendment of the Common Reporting Standard (CRS). The step reflects Oman’s continued efforts to further develop regulatory frameworks, enhance the effectiveness of automatic exchange of information, and keep pace with global developments, reaffirming the Sultanate’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of transparency in tax matters.
