    Oman National Football Team Intensifies Preparations for 27th Gulf Cup in Jeddah

    Muscat: The Oman national football team has intensified its physical and technical preparations ahead of the 27th Gulf Cup, scheduled to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from 23 September to 6 October 2026.

    The team’s internal training camp at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher focused on assessing players’ physical and technical levels, improving coordination among the squad and ensuring the team reaches the required level of readiness for the regional tournament.

    The camp is being overseen by Moroccan coach Tariq Sektioui, Technical Director of the Oman national team.

    Training sessions during the camp included intensive morning and evening programmes, combining gym exercises with field training. The sessions also focused on tactical drills, technical exercises and practical applications designed to improve the players’ physical condition and tactical understanding.

    The initial camp squad comprised 28 players, including goalkeepers Ibrahim Al-Mukhaini, Ibrahim Al-Rajhi, Ahmed Al-Rawahi and Sayyaf Beit Bahdour.

    The squad also included Ghanem Al-Habshi, Ahmed Al-Kaabi, Ahed Al-Mashaikhi, Sultan Al-Marzouq, Jamil Al-Yahmedi, Harib Al-Saadi, Nasser Al-Rawahi, Musab Al-Maamari, Amjad Al-Harthi, Yousef Al-Maliki, Musab Al-Shaqsi, Abdullah Fawaz, Abdul Salam Al-Shukaili, Issa Al-Naabi, Khalid Al-Buraiki, Al-Mundhir Al-Alawi, Khalid Al-Ghatrifi, Zaher Al-Aghbari, Abdullah Al-Maamari, Abdul Hafiz Al-Mukhaini, Fahd Al-Mukhaini, Waleed Al-Musallami, Abdul Majeed Al-Balushi and Hussein Al-Shahri.

    Three additional players were called up to the camp: Al-Harith bin Zaid Al-Mukhaini, Saeed bin Sulaiman Al-Alawi and Turki bin Abdullah Beit Rabee.

    Oman will open its Gulf Cup campaign against Iraq on 23 September, before facing hosts Saudi Arabia on 26 September. The team will conclude its group-stage matches against Kuwait on 29 September.

    Oman finished as runners-up in the previous edition of the Gulf Cup, held in Kuwait under the “Gulf Cup Zain 26” banner.

    The national team has won the Gulf Cup title twice, claiming its first championship on home soil in 2009 before securing its second title in 2017 in Kuwait. Oman is level with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain on two Gulf Cup titles.

    The upcoming tournament provides Oman with another opportunity to compete for regional honours as the team continues its preparations under Sektioui.
