Omani Journalist and Writer Ahmad Bin Darwish Al Hamdani Passes Away

Oman Mourns Veteran Journalist and Writer Ahmad Al-Hamdani

Muscat: Omani media figure and writer Ahmad bin Darwish Al-Hamdani passed away today after a career spanning several decades in journalism, radio, drama and media training.

Al-Hamdani was one of the notable figures in the history of Omani radio and drama, combining roles as a radio presenter, dramatic writer, actor and media trainer.

He presented and produced a number of radio programmes, including Maakum Doum, a daily Ramadan programme that continued for several years and featured direct interaction with listeners, as well as Sabah Al-Yasmin on Youth Radio.

In dramatic writing, Al-Hamdani authored a number of television and radio works, including the television series Saeed and Saeeda’s Diaries in 1991 and A Man of This Time in 2011.

His radio works included Told Stories, Knowledgeable Talk with Khalaf and Salloum, The Nature-Keeper and A Very Committed Opponent.

He also appeared as an actor in a number of dramatic productions and contributed to media training. In 2023, he presented the Radio Preparation and Presentation programme at the Media Training Centre of the Ministry of Information.

Al-Hamdani leaves behind a body of work that contributed to the development of Omani radio and drama and enriched the country’s media and cultural landscape.
