Oman Highlights Digital Media Advancements at GCC Summit Accompanying Exhibition
Manama: The Ministry of Information today participated in the exhibition accompanying the 46th GCC Summit, set to commence tomorrow (3 December) in the Bahraini capital, Manama.
Following the opening of the Media Centre, Dr. Ramzan bin Abdullah Al Noaimi, Bahrain’s Minister of Information, and Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the GCC, toured the Ministry of Information’s pavilion, where they were briefed on its various digital and media services.
The pavilion highlights the Ministry’s applications, websites, and media platforms, showcasing the development achieved in readable, visual, audio, and electronic media content. It also presents the tools used in delivering news services and offers visitors an overview of the Ministry’s media capabilities.
The pavilion features the Oman News Agency (ONA)’s website, application, and social media accounts, reflecting the progress made in strengthening the Agency’s digital presence and enhancing the quality of readable, visual, and audio media content. It further introduces visitors to the modern electronic tools employed in news production and dissemination.
The Directorate General of Electronic Media is also presenting the digital platform “Ayn,” which includes archival radio, television, and audiobook content that embodies Omani culture and identity. The pavilion additionally showcases advancements in the digital media industry and features the Children’s Interface— the first media platform dedicated to children—aimed at promoting national identity and nurturing emerging Omani talents.
The Media Centre for the GCC Summit comprises work halls, a press conference hall, the Bahrain Hall, and spaces dedicated to visual, audio, and print media. It includes photography areas, private work booths, and media studios, as well as a digital materials library.
An exhibition of GCC Summit photographs, organized by the GCC General Secretariat with the participation of all GCC news agencies, is also on display, featuring images documenting media coverage since the establishment of the GCC.
Large screens have been set up to broadcast Summit proceedings live from the main hall of the GCC leaders’ meeting. The Media Centre also includes studios for live broadcasting by Arab television organizations and a specialized area for satellite transmission, in cooperation with Bahrain TV.
