Beijing: Russia exported 5.153 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to China during the first eight months of 2026, marking an increase of 28.31% compared with the same period in 2025, according to data from the General Administration of Customs of China.

Data analysed by RIA Novosti showed that the value of China’s imports of Russian LNG reached $2.669 billion during the January-August period, up 13.19% from $2.358 billion in the corresponding period of 2025.

During the first eight months of 2025, China imported 4.016 million tonnes of Russian LNG.

Russia exported a record 9.799 million tonnes of LNG to China in 2025, an increase of 18.3% compared with 2024 and about 51 times the volume recorded in 2015.

The latest figures indicate continued growth in Russian LNG shipments to China during 2026, building on the record export volumes reached last year.
