    • US and Iran resume crucial nuclear talks in Rome

    The US and Iran are holding a second round of nuclear talks in Rome, mediated by Oman, after a “constructive” first round in Muscat. Iran demands focus only on its nuclear program and sanctions relief, rejecting discussion of missiles or regional influence.

    The US warns time is running out and threatens to trigger UN sanctions if no deal is reached by October. UN officials say Iran is close to bomb-making capability. Both sides see the talks as critical but difficult, while Israel vows to stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
