‘Widow’s Bay,’ ‘The Pitt’ dominate Emmy Awards

Apple TV+‘s Widow’s Bay and The Pitt emerged as the biggest winners at the 78th Emmy Awards on Monday, with Widow’s Bay setting a new record for the most awards won by a comedy series in a single year.

The horror-comedy claimed 14 awards, including best comedy series, while stars Matthew Rhys, Kate O’Flynn and Stephen Root took acting honors. Jean Smart won best comedy actress for Hacks, earning her eighth acting Emmy and tying the all-time acting record.

The Pitt secured its second consecutive best drama series award, finishing the night with six trophies. Star Noah Wyle won best drama actor for the second straight year, while Rhea Seehorn was named best drama actress for Pluribus.

Elsewhere, HBO Max’s DTF St Louis won best limited series, while Sally Field was honored as best actress in a limited series for Remarkably Bright Creatures. The ceremony, hosted by Mariska Hargitay, also featured tributes to late stars including country music icon Dolly Parton and filmmaker Rob Reiner.
