3 Omani researches win Prince Sultan bin Salman Award for Urban Heritage

Riyadh: Four Omani projects and research won the Prince Sultan bin Salman Award for Urban Heritage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in its sixth session, the ceremony was held today in Riyadh, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Riyadh Foundation for Science.

Three research papers prepared by eight female students in the College of Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University won the awards for Arab heritage research. For the research “Documentation of Heritage Lane in the Sultanate of Oman,” Thuraya Saeed Salih Al Kindi, Abrar Muhammad Omar Al Hashemiyah, Alia Hamad Hilal Al Yahamdia, and for a research won.” The Spatial Pattern of Heritage Houses in the Sultanate of Oman” by Maria Abdullah Al Busaidi, Buthaina Shafi Abdullah Al-Shabibih, and Hamida Suleiman Al-Azari, and on the research “The Impact of Urban Expansion of the City of Muscat on Access to the Heritage City” by Najwa Ahmed Al-Hadrami and Noor Ahmed Al-Kamaliya.

A project by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism in the category of historical mosques for “Al-Sharja Mosque in the Wilayat of Nizwa” won the award equally with research from the UAE.

The sponsor of the ceremony, HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, and HRH Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz handed over the prizes to the winners.
