Sanaa: Former Yemeni President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi passed away today at the age of 80 following a health crisis.
Yemen TV announced in a brief statement that Hadi died at his residence in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi was elected President of the Republic of Yemen in February 2012, succeeding the late President Ali Abdullah Saleh, in accordance with the Gulf Initiative supported by the United Nations and endorsed by Yemeni political parties.
In April 2022, Hadi issued a declaration transferring his powers and duties to the Presidential Leadership Council headed by Rashad Al Alimi and comprising representatives of major political and military components in Yemen.
Hadi previously served as Vice President of Yemen from 1994 until the end of 2011 and held several military positions during his career.
