Dollar Falls to Two-Week Low Following US-Iran Ceasefire

Singapore: The US dollar fell to its lowest level in two weeks at the start of Asian trading today, while major currencies recorded gains following the announcement of a two-week ceasefire between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Japanese yen rose by 0.6 percent to 158.68 per dollar, while the euro increased by 0.7 percent to $1.167. The British pound gained 0.7 percent to $1.3385.

The Australian dollar advanced by 1.3 percent to $0.7068, while the New Zealand dollar climbed by 1.4 percent to $0.5810.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency against a basket of six major currencies, declined by 1.0 percent to 98.97, marking its lowest level in two weeks.

Cryptocurrencies also recorded gains, with Bitcoin rising by 3.4 percent to $71,664.41 and Ether increasing by 5.7 percent to $2,234.78.
