Gold Climbs to $4,788 as Dollar Weakens and Inflation Concerns Ease
Singapore: Gold prices rose by more than 1 percent today, recovering from a one-week low, supported by a weaker US dollar and easing inflation concerns amid lower oil prices and optimism over de-escalation with Iran.
Spot gold increased by 1.1 percent to reach $4,788.76 per ounce, while US gold futures for June delivery rose by 1 percent to $4,812.80.
Gold had declined in the previous session to its lowest level in nearly a week, influenced by geopolitical tensions and reports of potential US measures targeting Iranian ports, which prompted reactions from Tehran and heightened concerns over further escalation.
Meanwhile, the US dollar fell to its lowest level in more than a month, making gold more attractive to investors holding other currencies.
Among other precious metals, silver rose by 3.2 percent to $77.98 per ounce, platinum increased by 0.7 percent to $2,084.90, and palladium gained 0.6 percent to $1,583.82.
