Robot Beats Human World Record in Beijing Half-Marathon Race

Beijing: A humanoid robot set a new benchmark after outperforming the human world record in a half-marathon race held in the Chinese capital, Beijing.

The robot completed the 21-kilometre race in 50 minutes and 26 seconds, surpassing the human world record set by Ugandan runner Jacob Kiplimo, who finished the same distance in approximately 57 minutes last March.

This achievement marks a notable improvement compared to last year’s inaugural edition of the race, during which the fastest robot completed the course in 2 hours, 40 minutes and 42 seconds. The earlier event witnessed several technical challenges, including robots losing balance or colliding with obstacles.

The current edition saw a significant rise in participation, with more than 100 teams competing, including five international teams, reflecting growing interest in robotics and artificial intelligence applications in endurance events.
