Sinner Wins Madrid Masters, Increases Lead Over Alcaraz

Madrid: Italy’s Jannik Sinner has extended his lead at the top of the ATP World Rankings after winning the Madrid Masters, a 1000-point tournament.

Sinner defeated Germany’s Alexander Zverev in the final in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, securing his fifth consecutive Masters title. The win increased his lead over Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz to 1,390 points, with the latter currently sidelined due to injury. Zverev remains in third place.

In the latest rankings, Russia’s Daniil Medvedev moved up to ninth, while Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti dropped to tenth.

France’s Arthur Fils climbed eight places to world No. 17 after reaching the semi-finals.

On the women’s side, Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk reached a career-high ranking of 15th following her Madrid title.

Meanwhile, the gap between world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus and Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina in second place narrowed to 1,555 points after Sabalenka exited in the quarter-finals.
