Japan’s Nikkei Rebounds on Strong Chipmaker Gains

Tokyo: Japanese stocks closed higher today, with the Nikkei 225 index rising 1.4 percent to 67,743.85, ending a three-session losing streak.

The benchmark index pared earlier gains after advancing as much as 2.4 percent during the trading session.

The broader Topix index also rose 0.4 percent to close at 4,020.37.

Semiconductor-related stocks led the market higher, with flash memory manufacturer Kioxia surging 8.3 percent, chip testing equipment maker Advantest gaining 5.9 percent, and semiconductor equipment producer Tokyo Electron advancing 5.5 percent.
