    • WhatsApp Introduces Status Caption Editing Feature

    Washington: WhatsApp, the instant messaging platform owned by Meta, has introduced a new feature that enables users to edit captions accompanying photo and video status updates after they have been published, eliminating the need to delete and repost the content.

    The feature is currently available in the latest beta version of WhatsApp Beta for Android and allows users to modify status captions within 15 minutes of publication.

    The new functionality is designed to improve the user experience by enabling corrections to typographical errors and updates to descriptive text or comments accompanying status posts after they have been shared.

    WhatsApp confirmed that editing a status caption does not remove existing interactions with the post and does not display an “edited” label to viewers. The feature is limited to modifying the caption only and does not allow changes to the original photo or video, distinguishing it from edits to regular chat messages, which are marked as edited.

    Users can access the feature by opening the Updates tab, selecting the desired status, tapping the pen icon and saving the revised caption.

    The feature is currently available to beta testers and is expected to be rolled out gradually to users worldwide through future stable updates distributed via official smartphone application stores.
