European Stocks Open Mixed Amid Higher Oil Prices and Hawkish Fed Signals

Brussels: European stock indices opened mixed today as investors assessed rising oil prices and renewed hawkish signals from the US Federal Reserve regarding inflation.

In major European markets, Germany’s DAX index on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange declined 0.51 percent, while France’s CAC 40 index on the Paris Stock Exchange advanced 0.21 percent.

The STOXX 600 index remained broadly stable at around 655 points following a weak opening.

In Milan, Italy’s FTSE MIB index rose 0.16 percent.

Meanwhile, trading on the London Stock Exchange was suspended today due to a bank holiday.

European markets are closely monitoring developments in energy prices and the outlook for US monetary policy amid concerns over persistent inflationary pressures.
