Oman participates in Empower Her Art Forum (EHAF) in Cairo

Cairo: The third edition of the “Empower Her Art Forum” kicked off today in the Egyptian capital, Cairo. The forum is being hosted by the Grand Egyptian Museum until May 20, with the participation of a group of female artists from the Sultanate of Oman, including Dr. Fakhreya bint Khalfan Al Yahya’i, Naila bint Hamad Al Maamari, Halima bint Khamis Al Balushi, Hafsa bint Abdullah Al Tamimiya, and Nada Al Ruwaishdiyya, in addition to more than 200 female artists from more than 35 countries around the world.

Omani female artists are participating in the exhibition with two artworks, each one with different artistic styles, sizes and ideas.

Artist Fakhriya Al Yahyaei’s participation is embodied in the screening of a film titled “No,” which is a moving visual experience that highlights women’s rejection of harmful patterns and behaviors practiced by their female colleagues within a female-dominated society pervaded by hatred, jealousy and pathological competition.

The film also raises profound questions about troubled female relationships, and embodies rejection as an act of resistance within a closed circle of pain and restrictions.

Artist Naila Al-Maamari presents her works under the title “The Joy of Nature,” in which she expresses the theme of joy and happiness in the beauty of life through flowers, their bright colors, and the radiance of the sky, in her own compositions. She translates the concept through the color shades of the flowers that she photographed and studied in depth.

Artist Nada Al-Ruwaishdiyya presents her works in the context of a “portrait” that reflects the inner and outer mirror of the human soul, conveying all psychological and emotional interactions.

Her works, entitled “Rearrange Yourself,” are artworks stemming from the philosophy that haunts humans from time to time to rearrange themselves according to the numerous variables and data surrounding them. The two works demonstrate the necessity for humans to gather their scattered selves to reach the state of perfection they seek, which bestows tranquility and comfort upon their souls, a state they may never attain no matter how hard they try.

Artist Halima Al Balushi presents a visually striking vision embodied in the use of acrylic paints using light and shadow techniques, exploring the gray amazement we feel in the isolation necessary for contemplation and reflection, and the light that permeates the soul during moments of spiritual contemplation.

Through her work, artist Hafsa Al Tamimi reflects the reality of life and its interactions, and the resulting scenes that are more subjective, reflecting on the structure of society, family, and lived reality, in addition to a philosophical vision of time, the earth, its warmth, and its harmony with the vocabulary around it.

It’s worth noting that the forum focuses on highlighting the pivotal role of art as a means of empowering women, through a multi-activity cultural and intellectual platform, in addition to holding panel discussions, interactive workshops, and live drawing sessions, all within a framework aimed at promoting cultural exchange and consolidating the values ​​of peace, justice, and equality through creativity.
