US Dollar Flat Amid Strait of Hormuz Tensions and Iran Diplomacy

Tokyo:  The US dollar remained largely unchanged today as markets weighed supply risks linked to a reported US naval blockade on Iranian shipping in the Strait of Hormuz against the prospects of continued diplomatic talks between Washington and Tehran.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency against a basket of major currencies, including the euro and the Japanese yen, edged up by 0.04 percent to 98.38.

The euro rose by 0.03 percent to $1.1761, while the Japanese yen strengthened by 0.08 percent to 159.3 per dollar.

Sterling also increased by 0.03 percent to $1.3508.

Meanwhile, the Australian dollar declined by 0.04 percent to $0.7091, while the New Zealand dollar rose by 0.03 percent to $0.5868.
