Gold Falls Amid Rising Oil Prices and US-Iran Tensions
Singapore: Gold prices declined today amid concerns that rising oil prices could increase inflationary pressures and keep interest rates elevated for a longer period.
The decline came as markets monitored the lack of progress in negotiations related to the US-Iran situation, which contributed to higher oil prices.
Spot gold fell by 0.6 percent to $4,684.32 per ounce.
US gold futures for June delivery also declined by 0.8 percent to $4,692.70 per ounce.
The US dollar strengthened during trading, making gold priced in dollars more expensive for holders of other currencies.
Among other precious metals, spot silver rose by 0.7 percent to $80.88 per ounce.
Meanwhile, platinum fell by 0.6 percent to $2,042.71 per ounce, while palladium declined by 0.4 percent to $1,484.99 per ounce.
