Japan’s Nikkei Extends Losing Streak, Falls 0.4 Percent
Tokyo: Japan’s Nikkei Stock Average fell 0.4 percent today to close at 52,074.64 points, extending its losing streak to a fifth consecutive session, marking its longest decline in about a year.
The broader Topix index also declined, shedding 1 percent to end the session at 3,589.70 points.
Japanese financial stocks came under heavy selling pressure, with the Topix banking sub-index dropping 3.2 percent, making it the worst-performing sector among the 33 industry groups on the exchange.
