Muscat: Oil prices extended their gains on Monday, with Brent crude heading for its highest monthly increase on record amid escalating military tensions in the Middle East.
Brent crude futures rose by $2.43, or 2.16 percent, to reach $115 per barrel, after closing 4.2 percent higher in the previous session.
US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude also increased by $1.86, or 1.87 percent, to $101.50 per barrel, following a 5.5 percent rise on Friday.
Brent crude has surged by 59 percent during March, marking its steepest monthly increase, driven by concerns over supply disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for around one-fifth of global oil and gas supplies.
