Singapore: Gold prices edged higher in trading today, while silver surged to a record high, breaking above the $65 mark for the first time.
Spot silver jumped 2.8 percent to $65.63 per ounce, marking its highest level on record.
Spot gold rose 0.4 percent to $4,321.56 per ounce, while US gold futures also advanced 0.4 percent to $4,350.50 per ounce.
Among other precious metals, spot platinum climbed 2.5 percent to $1,896.40 per ounce, its highest level in more than 14 years, while palladium settled at $1,602.60 per ounce after touching a two-month high earlier in the session.
