    Markets in the Gaza Strip are distinguished with display of popular food and sweets in the holy month of Ramadan creating seasonal work opportunities for unemployed youth.

    Vendors fill their stands with the old Arab sweet qatayef and a variety of delicious-smelling food such as falafel, hummus and fatteh, in addition to various kinds of beverages such as the famous drink in the Middle East ‘jallab’.

    Many Palestinians favor the popular kinds of food namely falafel and hummus that are part of their heritage – claimed by the Israelis as part of their tradition. – KUNA
