Dollar Gains, Yen Steady Amid Market Volatility and Middle East Tensions

Singapore: The US dollar firmed today amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, while the Japanese yen held steady against the backdrop of global market volatility.

The euro traded at $1.1693, maintaining earlier losses, while sterling stood at $1.353. The dollar index, which tracks the US currency against a basket of six major currencies, was steady at 98.452 after rising 0.3 percent in the previous session.

The Japanese yen traded at 157.22 per US dollar, remaining close to its strongest level in two months following recent gains.

Meanwhile, the Australian dollar was little changed at $0.7168 ahead of a policy decision by the Reserve Bank of Australia, where markets expect another interest rate increase in response to inflation.
