US Dollar Rebounds After Treasury Reaffirms Strong-Dollar Policy

New York: The US dollar rose against a basket of major currencies today, recovering from a four-year low reached in the previous session, after the US Treasury reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to a strong-dollar policy.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency against six major peers, increased by 0.5 percent to 96.391. The index had slipped to 95.86 on Tuesday, marking its lowest level since February 2022.

Despite the rebound, the dollar remains under pressure, having declined by nearly 2 percent so far this year, following a sharp 9.4 percent drop in 2025.

In the currency markets, the euro climbed above $1.20 on Tuesday for the first time since 2021, while sterling reached its highest level in four and a half years.

Meanwhile, the Japanese yen is on track to record its strongest monthly performance against the US dollar since April, supported by expectations of tighter monetary policy in Japan.
