    Angel Gomes Set for Premier League Return with Wolves

    London:  Wolverhampton Wanderers are close to completing a loan deal for England midfielder Angel Gomes from French club Marseille, according to informed sources.

    Negotiations between the two clubs have reached an advanced stage, with discussions centered on a loan agreement that includes an option for a permanent transfer. If finalized, the move would see the 25-year-old return to the English Premier League, where he began his professional career with Manchester United.

    Gomes joined Marseille from Lille last summer but has struggled for regular playing time, failing to start a Ligue 1 match since November. As a result, the French side has approved his departure during the current transfer window. He has made 20 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring four goals, though he did not start any matches in the UEFA Champions League.

    A graduate of Manchester United’s academy, Gomes made ten senior appearances for the club. He made history on his debut at the age of 16 years and 263 days, coming on as a substitute for Wayne Rooney, becoming the youngest player to represent United since Duncan Edwards in 1953.

    Internationally, Gomes has earned four caps for England, all under former caretaker manager Lee Carsley, but has not featured for the national team since October 2024.

    The proposed move to Molineux is viewed as a pivotal opportunity for Gomes to secure consistent first-team football and revive his career at the highest domestic level.
