Yen Edges Higher as Traders Watch Possible Japan Intervention

Tokyo:  The Japanese yen steadied at the start of Asian trading, recording a slight gain following recent volatility in currency markets.

The yen rose by 0.1 percent to 156.885 against the US dollar, after gaining about 1.4 percent over the past month, amid expectations of possible intervention by Japanese authorities.

The US dollar index held steady at 98.144 against a basket of major currencies.

The Australian dollar rose by 0.1 percent, while the New Zealand dollar gained 0.2 percent. The euro increased by 0.1 percent to $1.1730, and sterling rose by 0.1 percent to $1.3586.

Cryptocurrencies showed mixed performance, with Bitcoin declining by 0.1 percent and Ethereum rising by a similar margin.
