Oman’s Classified Hotels Record RO 138.3 Million in Revenue by July

Muscat: The number of guests in 3- to 5-star hotels in the Sultanate of Oman reached 1,154,436 by the end of July 2026, according to data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The figure represents a decline of 11.9 percent compared with 1,309,792 guests recorded during the same period in 2025, a decrease of 155,356 guests.

Revenues of classified hotels reached approximately RO 138.306 million by the end of July 2026, compared with RO 156.036 million during the corresponding period of 2025, registering a decline of 11.4 percent.

The average occupancy rate stood at 45.8 percent by the end of July 2026, compared with 52.9 percent during the same period last year, a decrease of 7.1 percentage points.

The number of Omani guests increased by 2.8 percent to 482,031, compared with 468,854 during the same period of 2025. Omani guests accounted for about 41.8 percent of the total number of guests in classified hotels.

Asian guests also recorded an increase of 1.3 percent, reaching 189,579 compared with 187,143 during the same period in 2025.

European guests, however, declined by 30.4 percent to 257,921, compared with 370,590 during the same period last year. Despite the decline, European visitors remained the largest category of non-Omani guests in classified hotels.

The number of GCC guests fell by 19.1 percent to 89,345, compared with 110,501 during the same period of 2025.

Guests from other Arab nationalities decreased by 11.3 percent to 50,093, compared with 56,474, while American guests declined by 22.8 percent to 33,524, compared with 43,413 during the corresponding period last year.

Guests from Oceania recorded the largest decline among the categories, falling by 57 percent to 11,626, compared with 27,050 at the end of July 2025.

The number of African guests also declined by 5.8 percent to 8,289, compared with 8,803 during the same period in 2025.

July Shows Monthly Improvement

On a monthly basis, classified hotel activity improved in July 2026 compared with June.

The number of hotel guests reached 162,427 in July, an increase of 20.2 percent compared with 135,080 guests in June. The number of guests recorded in May stood at 154,380.

Hotel revenues also increased in July to RO 14.130 million, compared with RO 10.773 million in June, representing monthly growth of 31.2 percent. Revenues in May amounted to RO 13.927 million.

The average occupancy rate rose to 42.6 percent in July, compared with 35.9 percent in June and 38.7 percent in May, an increase of 6.7 percentage points compared with June.

The monthly figures indicate an improvement in hotel activity during July, with increases recorded in guest numbers, revenues and occupancy compared with the previous month.
