Preliminary Rounds of 34th Sultan Qaboos Holy Quran Competition Begin in Barka

Barka: The preliminary rounds of the 34th edition of the Sultan Qaboos Holy Quran Competition began today in the Wilayat of Barka, South Al Batinah Governorate, under the supervision of the Sultan Qaboos Higher Center for Culture and Science at the Royal Court.

The competition features participants competing across seven levels covering different stages of Holy Quran memorization.

Rashid bin Humaid Al-Daghishi, Chairman of the Preliminary and Final Qualifying Committees, said the Preliminary Qualifying Committee has so far visited the wilayats of Seeb, Bahla, Samail, Suwaiq, Rustaq, Salalah and Taqah, in accordance with the schedule prepared by the Sultan Qaboos Higher Center for Culture and Science.

He noted that the committee has listened to the recitations of 756 male and female contestants across the various competition levels.

The first level requires memorization of the entire Holy Quran, while the second level covers memorization of 24 consecutive parts. The third level requires memorization of 18 consecutive parts, and the fourth level requires 12 consecutive parts.

The fifth level covers memorization of six consecutive parts and is open to contestants born in 2012 or later, while the sixth level requires memorization of four consecutive parts for those born in 2016 or later.

The seventh level requires memorization of two consecutive parts and is open to contestants born in 2019 or later.

The competition continues to provide a national platform for encouraging Quran memorization and recitation among different age groups and promoting interest in Quranic knowledge and learning across the Sultanate of Oman.
