Islamabad: Twenty-four people were killed and more than 50 others injured in an explosion that targeted a train carrying military personnel in the city of Quetta in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province.
Pakistani media reported that authorities declared a state of emergency in all government hospitals across the city following the incident.
The explosion occurred while the train was passing through a traffic signal near the “Chaman Patak” station in Quetta.
According to reports, a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device struck one of the train’s carriages, causing a powerful blast.
The explosion shattered windows of nearby buildings and damaged several vehicles parked close to the site.
Security and emergency teams rushed to the area, while investigations into the incident are ongoing.
