UAE cyclist Mohammad Al Mutaiwei wins Dhofar Classic 2025

Salalah: UAE national team cyclist Mohammed Al-Mutaiwei won the first edition of the Dhofar Classic cycling race, which was held today as part of the fifth Tour of Salalah 2025.

The race is organized by Dhofar Municipality in partnership with the Oman Cycling Federation and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth as part of the Dhofar Khareef season.

The five-day race is being held as part of the Dhofar Classic cycling race. The cyclist Abdullah Jassim from the UAE national team came in second place, while the cyclist Tegshpayar Patsikhan from the Thai Rojai Insurance team came in third place in the race that witnessed the participation of 146 cyclists. It started from the Al-Maghsail area and reached the site of Darbat Falls, for a total distance of (174) kilometers. The race is registered in the (2.1) category in the agenda of the International Cycling Union.

At the conclusion of the race, Malaysian Amarjit Singh, President of the Asian Cycling Federation, crowned the top three finishers, while the UAE national team received the Best Team award.

His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Mohsen Al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality, emphasized that the Salalah International Cycling Tour is a prominent event thanks to its professional organization and international recognition.

He praised the partnership between Dhofar Governorate and the Oman Cycling Federation, which has contributed to promoting sports and tourism in the governorate.

His Excellency added that the launch of the Dhofar Classic race this year gives athletes an exceptional opportunity to discover Dhofar’s nature through trails that combine challenge and natural beauty.

The Salalah International Cycling Tour 2025, in which (15) teams from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman participate, aims to stimulate the tourism, hospitality, transportation and logistics sectors, and highlight Salalah as a global tourist destination, in addition to strengthening the local economy and attracting sports and tourism investments.

The event also has a societal value by encouraging exercise as a healthy lifestyle and increasing volunteer and community participation in organizing major events.

It is noteworthy that the Salalah International Cycling Tour includes five races, starting with the “Dhofar Classic” race for a distance of (174) kilometers, followed by the first stage from Ain Razat to Khor Rori for a distance of (113) kilometers, then the second stage from Taqah Fort to Hajif for a distance of (135) kilometers, and the third stage from Al-Hafa Beach Market to Ain Ishate for a distance of (162) kilometers, while the events will conclude with the fourth stage from Al-Dahariz Beach to Wadi Darbat for a distance of (123) kilometers.
