    Late Drama Lifts Arsenal Over Wolves

    London: English Premier League (EPL) leaders Arsenal secured a dramatic 2–1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium, thanks to a stoppage-time own goal that decided a tense and chaotic encounter.

    After being largely frustrated by Wolves’ disciplined five-man defensive setup, Arsenal broke the deadlock in the 70th minute in fortuitous circumstances. An inswinging corner from Bukayo Saka was pushed onto the post by goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, only for the ball to rebound off the keeper’s back and cross the goal line.

    Rather than settling the contest, the goal opened the game. Arsenal appeared nervous in the closing stages, and Wolves took advantage in the 90th minute. Sustained pressure resulted in Mateus Cunha delivering a cross that was powerfully headed home by Tolu Arokodare, seemingly earning the visitors a late equalizer.

    As the match moved deep into stoppage time, Arsenal produced a final twist. In the 94th minute, Saka delivered another dangerous cross toward substitute Gabriel Jesus, and under pressure, defender Yerson Mosquera inadvertently diverted the ball into his own net, handing the hosts a last-gasp winner.

    The victory was slightly overshadowed by a first-half hamstring injury to defender Ben White, raising concerns ahead of a demanding fixture schedule. Nonetheless, the win extends Arsenal’s lead at the top of the EPL table to five points over Manchester City, reinforcing their position at the summit ahead of next weekend’s away match against Everton.
