Industrial Production and Retail Sales Show Resilience in China

Beijing: China’s industrial sector continued to post steady growth, with the value added of industrial output rising by 4.8 percent year-on-year in November, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics of China.

The data showed that industrial output during the first eleven months of 2025 increased by 6 percent compared with the same period last year. The figures cover enterprises with main annual business revenues of at least 20 million yuan (approximately USD 2.8 million).

At the sectoral level, the mining industry recorded a 6.3 percent increase in value added in November, while the manufacturing sector grew by 4.6 percent. The electricity, heat, gas and water production and supply sector also posted a 4.3 percent rise.

In a related development, retail sales of consumer goods in China rose by 4 percent year-on-year during the first eleven months of 2025, reaching CNY 45.61 trillion (around USD 6.45 trillion).

Retail sales in November alone increased by 1.3 percent year-on-year, reflecting the continued recovery of domestic consumption.
